The annual Colts trial game between Harry’s Hamsters and Trent’s Teatotallers, although a one sided affair, proved a great hit out and provided vital time at the crease for many Colts.
The day threw out everything that was hoped for with good food, entertainment and company as well as a few surprises, as the Club plans to select their 5 teams for season 2011/12. We thank the strong crowd of 50 for their swift response as the game was transferred to McLean St Oval from Breslford Park due to the weather. The day provided overcast, light and heavy rain, thunderstorms and warm sunlight which will help the boys acclimatize to any conditions put in front of them this season.
Harry won the toss and correctly batted on a slippery McLean St wicket and the boys made 169, all out in the second last ball (36 Over Game). Strong contributions from Tim Parkins (34), Ken Walter (28) and Nick Lihole (22) as well as the skipper (25*), helped new recruit Wade cash in at the end thanks to Trent & Johnny Fawcett.
In reply, Trent’s side made 91 with the scalp of Matt Rea at the top of the order proving the difference. Young Colts Dean Hives and Aiden Statham really impressed as well as old boy Craig Haworth top scoring with 19 at No11 with thongs, jeans and no pads gave a bit of respectability to the score. Thanks to the scorers, cooks and most importantly the hecklers which made the game quite interesting. Congratulations must go to Man of the Match Timothy Parkins for a well rounded performance and we hoped he enjoyed his passionfruit popper he won as a result and thank the 20/20 wintercomp committee for supplying the spoils. Cheers.
