R1 Coffs Colts vs Urunga
Coffs Colts stormed to a dominant victory over Urunga, with a strong all-round bowling display setting up a comfortable chase.
Batting first, Urunga were restricted to 128 in 35 overs as the Colts’ attack proved too good. Matthew Francis (4/41) led the way, supported by Daniel Harris (2/20) and Trent Statham (1/28). Wickets fell steadily, with only John Rowe (25), Jason Woodwood (25) and Patrick Myles (25) showing resistance as the Colts’ bowlers kept the pressure on throughout.
In reply, the Colts wasted no time in sealing the result. Troy Britnell (32) and Craig Haworth (12) got the innings moving before the side cruised home, finishing 47/2 in just 13 overs.
It was a comprehensive performance, highlighted by tight bowling and sharp fielding, ensuring the Colts continued their winning momentum with a convincing win over Urunga.
R2 Coffs Colts vs Dorrigo (2 Day Fixture)
Coffs Colts fell to a determined Dorrigo side in a hard-fought match, despite a strong performance from Matthew Rose and Selwyn Manz with the bat and another tidy spell from the bowlers.
Batting first, the Colts posted 132 from 59 overs, with Matthew Rose (50) and Selwyn Manz (42) standing tall as wickets tumbled around them. Against a disciplined Dorrigo attack, led by Mick Gilroy (4/37) and Justin Gilbert (3/35), runs were hard to come by and partnerships difficult to build.
In reply, Dorrigo were lifted by a superb innings from Justin Gilbert (95), who anchored the chase. While Matthew Francis (3/37) bowled beautifully and received support from Robert Denne (1/13) and Rose himself (1/4), Dorrigo worked their way to 187 all out in 61 overs, establishing a valuable lead.
Facing an uphill battle in the second innings, the Colts struggled against sustained pressure. Despite a gritty 30 not out from Robert Denne, the side was dismissed for 66 in 22 overs, with Oliver Sandstrom (1/8), Louis Balenzano (1/4) and Toby Francis (1/6) all striking.
It was a tough outing for the Colts, who showed flashes of resistance but ultimately could not match the dominance of Gilbert’s batting and Dorrigo’s consistent bowling unit.
R3 Coffs Colts vs Diggers (2 Day Fixture)
Coffs Colts battled hard but ultimately went down to Diggers in a match where the opposition’s depth with bat and ball proved decisive.
Batting first, the Colts were rocked early by the relentless Glen Kesby, who tore through the top order on his way to 5/26 from 15.3 overs. Wickets fell cheaply, but the middle and lower order showed fight. Craig Haworth (46) anchored the innings, supported by Troy Britnell (20), *Trent Statham (25)**, and Matthew Francis (24). Their contributions lifted the Colts to 130 from 57.3 overs, a total that at least gave the bowlers something to defend.
In reply, Diggers rode a fine innings from Alex Byrne (58) and a well-paced 34 not out from Joseph Willman. The Colts bowlers kept chipping away, with Matthew Francis (3/64) and Craig Haworth (3/12) leading the way, while Robert Denne (3/19) also struck key blows. Despite their efforts, Diggers built a strong total of 191 in 49.3 overs, taking control of the contest.
Needing a big effort with the bat in the second innings, Colts showed signs of resistance. Joshua Noble (43) played his best knock of the season, while Daniel Harris (34) added grit in the middle. Unfortunately, the side struggled to build partnerships, and only Mark Haworth (17) joined them in double figures. Colts were dismissed for 99 in 25.4 overs, handing Diggers a convincing victory.
It was a match of glimpses for the Colts — solid individual efforts with both bat and ball, but consistency proved the difference as Diggers capitalised to claim the points.
R4 Coffs Colts vs Sawtell (2 Day Fixture)
Coffs Colts batted first and fought hard to reach 201 from 66.3 overs, with a crucial partnership between Matthew Rose (63) and Craig Haworth (71) rescuing the innings after an early collapse against former international David Langford-Smith (5/61). Handy contributions from Troy Britnell (24) and Matthew Francis (15) helped push the total past 200.
In reply, Sawtell reached 29 without loss from 10 overs before rain set in and forced the match to be abandoned. Despite a strong platform being set, no result was possible due to the weather.
R5 Coffs Colts vs Coffs Tigers (2 Day Fixture)
Coffs Colts posted a competitive 192 from 43 overs after some strong top-order contributions. Matthew Rose (53)anchored the innings with a classy half-century, while Joshua Noble (34), Matthew Francis (31) and Mark Haworth (20)* all added valuable runs. For the Tigers, Scott Street (5/44) was the standout with the ball, tearing through the middle and lower order.
In reply, the Tigers were bundled out for 115 in 35.2 overs. Colts’ bowling attack was relentless, led by Craig Haworth (5/30) who claimed a superb five-wicket haul, supported by Daniel Harris (2/30), Trent Statham (1/24) and Robert Denne (1/2).
The Colts sealed a 77-run victory, with Rose and C. Haworth the standout performers.
R6 Coffs Colts Urunga (2 Day Fixture)
Urunga piled on 278 from 67 overs, built around a superb 115 not out from Luke Hickey. He held the innings together while getting support from John Rowe (25), Kyle Buckley (30) and Trent Matthews (26). For the Colts, Matthew Francis (3/66) and Daniel Harris (3/55) were the most effective, while Craig Haworth (2/47) chipped in with key wickets.
In reply, the Colts were restricted to 158 all out in 43.1 overs. Joshua Noble (49) top-scored, while Rose (26) and C. Haworth (27) offered resistance. Urunga’s attack was led brilliantly by Trent Matthews (5/43 off 22.1 overs), backed by Kyle Buckley (2/19) and Mathew Riddoch (2/63).
Batting again, the Colts put up another fight but were dismissed for 151 in 37.1 overs. Joshua Noble (40), James Ross (31) and Troy Britnell (21)* led the scoring. Urunga’s Mathew Riddoch (5/58) was the destroyer, supported by John Leahy (1/26) and Thomas Rowe (1/20).
That left Urunga with a comprehensive outright win, highlighted by Hickey’s century and Matthews and Riddoch’s damaging bowling efforts.
R7 Coffs Colts vs Dorrigo
Before rain cut the match short, Colts’ bowlers dominated. Matthew Francis (7/21 off 11.4) produced a stunning spell, supported by Daniel Harris (2/35), as Dorrigo were bowled out for 115 in 42.4 overs. Justin Gilbert (51) was the only batter to resist.
In reply, Colts reached 4/41 from 21 overs before the weather intervened. Andrew Ellis (2/5) and Eric Moore (1/9) made early inroads, leaving the game evenly poised when play was abandoned.
The wash-out denied Colts a strong chance at victory after Francis’ career-best haul.
R8 Coffs Colts vs Diggers (2 Day Fixture)
Coffs Colts struggled with the bat in their first innings, dismissed for 96 in 50.2 overs. Despite starts from Matthew Rose (24) and Joshua Noble (23), the side couldn’t build momentum as Joseph Willman (3/24) and Trent Dierick (3/7)applied constant pressure.
In reply, Diggers were led by a superb 91 from Alex Byrne, guiding them to 149 all out. Colts bowlers fought hard, with Trent Statham (4/45) and Rob Wear (2/27) keeping their side in the contest.
Needing a strong batting effort in the second innings, Colts again found runs hard to come by, reaching just 5/42 in 19 overs. Rob Wear (32)* showed resistance, but Glen Kesby (3/11) struck key blows to leave Diggers in control when stumps were drawn.
R9 Coffs Colts vs Coffs Tigers ( 2 Day Fixture)
Coffs Colts battled hard with the bat to post 144 in 58 overs. Joshua Noble (43) anchored the innings alongside Rob Wear (36), but consistent strikes from the Tigers’ bowlers, particularly Kieran Hogan (5/44), kept the scoring in check.
In reply, the Colts bowlers produced a brilliant team effort to dismiss the Tigers for 113 in 46 overs, sealing a crucial victory. Matthew Francis (4/32) and Trent Statham (4/37) shared eight wickets between them, while Nathan Gett (1/12) and Daniel Harris (1/23) chipped in with key breakthroughs.
The tight bowling display, backed by sharp fielding, saw the Colts defend their total successfully and claim a 31-run winover their local rivals.
R10 Coffs Colts vs Sawtell (2 Day Fixture)
Sawtell posted a competitive total of 156 in 42.3 overs, led by Nicholas Ada (44) and Tyh Murphy (27). The Colts bowlers shared the wickets around, with Daniel Harris (3/29) the pick, supported by Tony Goodfellow (2/27), Trent Statham (2/21) and Matthew Francis (2/19).
In reply, the Colts struggled to build momentum and were dismissed for 109 in 37.4 overs. Troy Britnell (29) and Matthew Rose (20) provided resistance, while Trent Statham finished unbeaten on 15, but regular wickets halted the chase. Sawtell’s attack was well led by David Angus-Crouch (2/12) and Nicholas Ada (2/14), securing them a 47-run victory.
